Hasbro initially hired Faust to create a pitch bible for the show, allowing her to get additional help with conceptualization. Faust said she was “extremely skeptical” about taking the job at first because she had always found shows based on girls’ toys to be boring and unrelatable. She was disappointed that what she thought of the toys at the time was nothing like the animated shows, in which the characters, according to her, “had endless tea parties, giggled over nothing and defeated villains by either sharing with them or crying”. With the chance to work on My Little Pony, one of her favorite childhood toys, she hoped to prove that “cartoons for girls don’t have to be a puddle of smooshy, cutesy-wootsy, goody-two-shoeness”. To do this, she incorporated many elements into the show that subverted stereotypes of girls, such as diverse personalities, character flaws and personality disorders, the message that friends can be different and can get into arguments but still be friends, and the idea that girls should not be limited by what others say they can or can not do. Elements of the characters’ personalities and the show’s settings were based on her own childhood imagination of the ponies’ adventures, in part inspired by the animated shows that her brothers would watch while growing up, such as Transformers and G. I. Joe. Faust still aimed for the characters to be “relatable” characters, using stereotypical “icons of girliness” to broaden the appeal of the characters for the young female audience.

Kindergarten Age – As the children get older and more experienced with their artistic talents, they become bored with the simple butterfly patterns for the younger children. There are also websites that accommodate this age group with butterflies that have significant more detail as well as help them learn a wider variety of colors and shades – and some feature different flowers and seasons. School-age Children – In order to keep the children interested in the art and beauty of butterflies, there are websites that provide more advanced butterfly patterns to be printed for the older children. These butterfly pictures are more meticulous, with additional backgrounds that the children can also color and to enhance their creativity. In addition to coloring books, there are other items for this age group to color such as bookmarks and posters.

I normally print out free coloring pages for my nephew – no problem right? Then I was asked to baby sit a few other little ones one evening. I passed out a coloring page to each of them along with a huge bucket of crayons. I was then off to watch an episode of Monk. After about three minutes the fight was on. I ran into the family room as if the house was on fire. The children were arguing over one particular coloring page. Normally this would have been another disaster. Imagine if I only had the traditional coloring book. This would have turned into a huge crying fest. Thanks to the Internet I zipped into the computer room and simply printed out several more of the same coloring pages and saved the day. I even made it back in time to see Monk work his magic and solve the case once again.

Help improves Concentration - In children, you can speed up their concentration process by giving them time-long activities to do, of which educational coloring pages is chief. When children sit for long coloring pages to print, it helps the child keep his on one thing and will certainly develop his overall concentration level as time goes on.

You can even print out some and hold a coloring competition amongst your kids or your class. It is all too common for the coloring sheets that are given out and taken home to become lost, torn, or crumpled up. Obviously such damaged coloring pages are no use for the competition anymore. Parents can be instructed to go online and print out replacement printable coloring pages. It only requires a computer, Internet connection, and a printer to come up with such a contest entry replacement. There are so many online printable coloring pages that you can have a blast offering them to your children. Perhaps you don’t have children of your own but you often have friends and family that come over with their young ones. You don’t want the kids to be bored at your house. Allow them to pick some coloring sheets that you can print for them. Have crayons and other supplies on hand for them and they will feel very welcome in your home.
